EDUCATION CLASSES

Grace House San Antonio provides women with a structured environment and valuable training opportunities to break free from the addictive and destructive behaviors that have hindered their ability to become productive members of society. Our educational classes play a vital role in the Grace House program, supporting the ministry’s mission to educate, encourage, and care for each woman in our care. Every class is designed to empower and equip them for lasting transformation.

Grace House San Antonio provides a thoughtfully structured program with a comprehensive curriculum aimed at helping each resident confidently re-enter everyday life with a renewed sense of purpose and productivity. All classes take a holistic approach, equipping residents for long-term success in physical, spiritual, emotional, and professional aspects of their lives.

GRACE HOUSE EDUCATION CLASSES:
 
  1. Disciple Daily: Study 12 familiar Bible stories and learn how to share them in a memorable way with any audience.
  2. Boundaries: A book study to help identify healthy and unhealthy boundaries in relationships and life situations.
  3. Celebrate Recovery: Ongoing group meetings focused on addiction recovery.
  4. Trauma Recovery: A class offering support and healing for those who have experienced trauma at any stage of life.
  5. Life’s Healing Choices: A faith-based recovery program that helps overcome addictions and promotes clean, sober living.
  6. Guest Speakers: Community leaders and ministers visit Grace House to share their life stories.
  7. Sister Act Classes: Creative workshops including teaching, crafts, painting, beading, cooking, and more.
  8. Money Matters: A study that provides basic instruction on money management and finances.
  9. Nutrition: Texas A&M’s AgriLife Extension program provides education on food and nutrition in Bexar County.
  10. Safe Food Handling Certificate: An online course required for San Antonio Food Bank recipients on safe food handling.

Texas A&M Extension Program Food and Nutrition Class taught by Sheila Schlecht-Barry

  1. Relationships: A class focused on developing skills for healthy communication and relationships.
  2. Anger Management: A study on handling emotions and managing anger effectively.
  3. Positive Parenting: A practical study of raising young children a healthy environment.
  4. Digital Literacy: Basic training in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and workforce preparation.
  5. Special Events and Church Attendance: Weekly church attendance and participation in special events in San Antonio.
  6. Volunteering: Monthly volunteer opportunities. Community service hours if needed for the courts.
  7. Structured Living: Learning to live in a home with a schedule, responsibilities, and achievements.
  8. Exit Plan: Individualized counseling to determine a successful plan for the future. This includes relapse prevention, housing opportunities and work or education opportunities.
  9. Civics: A study of the history of the United States of America, our government and laws.
  10. Faith in Work: A study on how to impact your world in the workplace.
